Jean-Paul van Lith, who lives and works in Biot, is represented in some thirty museums in France and abroad. Some know him as a ceramist, others as a glassmaker... To tell the truth, Jean-Paul is
an artist who has never stopped painting. And when he's not painting, he's writing. His eternal smile reassures those who stop in front of his pieces, so diverse in appearance, but so similar in
reality, since they are built on authenticity, strength and gesture.
Trained as a ceramist at the School of Applied Arts and a self-taught glassmaker, Jean-Paul has never forgotten the explosive years of American painting in 1968: De Kooning and Barnett Newman.
