Frank Zeidler, drawings, illustrator, ink drawings, artist cote d'azur, Biot, Grasse, Valbonne, illustration , original artwork , French Riviera

Born in Winnipeg (Canada) in 1953 to German parents, Frank Zeidler was convinced from an early age of his artistic vocation. His mother, an artist herself, introduced him to drawing, telling him that if you can draw the human body, you can draw anything.

In 1971, he enrolled in the School of Fine Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC, Vancouver, Canada), continuing his studies in Vienna (Austria), Winnipeg (Canada) and again in Vancouver, where he graduated as Professor of Art under the guidance of renowned Canadian artist Gordon Smith.

Despite the underlying presence of art throughout his life, Frank Zeidler chose a more down-to-earth path, eventually realizing his career in engineering.

In the early 80s, he turned to drawing as a means of expressing his creativity.

Since 2014, Frank Zeidler has been based in Grasse, France, where he continues his artistic career and absorbs the French cultural influence as well as the Mediterranean light.

“At the root of all my drawings is an idea.

Call it what you like, a thought, a story, a vision, a joke, a concept or even a dream, but that's what gives the drawing its strength and relevance.

It's all about life itself.

Whether poetic, humorous, romantic or societal, full of values and contradictions, hope and despair, these drawings are life.

That's why they speak to everyone.

These drawings are clearly and directly addressed to you, as an invitation to recognize yourself in one or other of them...”
